Your support is vital to our mission to prevent the spread of HIV and provide comprehensive series to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Please consider the following levels of giving. Your unrestricted donation can truly make us achieve our vision of a community free of HIV. We urge you to consider joining our Red Ribbon Collective, as well.

We love to meet with our donors! Please call to schedule a meeting and tour with our CEO.

We appreciate meeting with donors. Please consider calling and making an appointment to meet with our CEO and to set up a tour of our facilities.

Make a Donation

Join the effort to help us achieve our vision of a community free of HIV. Your donation – in any amount – helps in so many ways! The need for our services is still there despite progress made in turning AIDS from a death sentence to a chronic, manageable disease.

Donate Now

Long-term survivors and the newly diagnosed need your help.  We began our work in 1986 and were first in service, first in hope in San Antonio and Bexar County. Your gift continues this legacy of hope and service.

Monthly Giving

Monthly giving provides a steady and cost-effective source of income to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.

And because your monthly donation is processed automatically, you help us reduce our costs—which allows us to fund and expand programs, such as testing, presentations in schools, utility assistance, transitional housing support and hot nutritious meals.

As a monthly supporter, you receive the following benefits:

  • An annual statement to assist in your tax preparation.
  • A designated staff member who can handle any questions you may have.
  • The ability to increase, decrease or cancel your pledge whenever you wish.
  • Income that will provide services to those in need.
  • Convenience — your monthly pledge can be established:
    • By automatic deduction from your debit or credit card.
    • And you can change the amount of your pledge or the timing of your payments at any time.

Red Ribbon Collective

The Red Ribbon Collective (RRC) is an important group of individuals who embody the idea behind the red ribbon itself — dedication to bringing awareness and support for people living with HIV/AIDS and to helping the San Antonio AIDS Foundation’s vision of creating a community free of HIV.

RRC members are more than just ‘interested’ donors.  In fact, RRC members are our most important ambassadors!  They are activists who live their compassion for those affected by HIV by providing unrestricted gifts to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation to further its mission.

We are grateful to our RRC members – individuals dedicated to understanding the evolution of the disease and how they can support service and care efforts. Support from members of the RRC helps us increase awareness, focus on testing and prevention efforts, provide medical treatment and supportive behavioral counseling and other social support.  The support of the RRC is a vital part of efforts to reduce stigma and empower clients to live healthy lives.

Join the Collective

Levels

The Red Ribbon Collective recognizes the generosity of individual donors.

Membership in the RRC is extended to those who contribute at least $1,200 annually in unrestricted, non-event-related gifts to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation. Your gift of $1,200 annually or ($100.00 monthly or $300 quarterly) qualifies you for membership in the Red Ribbon Collective, as an Ambassador.  Other levels of giving are available, too, as listed below.

Red Ribbon Collective members provide long-term investment in the mission and programs of the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.

Levels of Giving are:

  • Red Ribbon Visionary: $7,500 – $9,999
  • Red Ribbon Champion: $5,000 – $7,400
  • Red Ribbon Advocate: $2,500 – $4,999
  • Red Ribbon Ambassador: $1,200 – $2,499

Benefits

You may donate the entire amount for the year, or sign up on our website to have your donation taken out monthly or quarterly.

Every December RRC members and a guest attend a special gathering – usually held in the home of a member of the SAAF Board of Directors.  This is an opportunity to hear updates about SAAF services and programs, meet other RRC members, and to informally discuss ways to participate and support SAAF over the next year.

As a member of RRC at the Ambassador and Advocate levels, you will enjoy:

  • Semi-annual RRC receptions, including a Holiday Member gathering
  • A quarterly newsletter update about activities at SAAF
  • Recognition in our annual report and on our website

Donors at the Champion and Visionary levels ($5,000 level and above) include:

  • Semi-annual RRC receptions, including a Holiday Member gathering
  • A quarterly newsletter update about activities at SAAF
  • VIP Tickets to WEBB (Champion: 2; Visionary: 4)
  • Private tour of SAAF facilities with CEO and Board director(s)
  • Annual briefing by the CEO

Red Ribbon Origin

Where did the red ribbon first start?

In 1991 – a decade after the HIV epidemic began – a group of 12 artists gathered to discuss a new project for Visual AIDS, a New York arts organization that raises awareness of HIV. They were photographers, painters, filmmakers and costume designers, and they sat around in the shared gallery space in New York’s East Village. After a short brainstorm they came up with a simple idea that later became one of the most recognized symbols of the decade: the red ribbon, worn to signify awareness and support for people living with HIV.

In the early days, the artists made the ribbons themselves and distributed them around the New York art scene and dropped them off at theatres. Initially there was text that went with it, to explain why they were being worn, but eventually this was dropped as its symbolism no longer needed an explanation.

Within weeks of the red ribbon idea being born, world-famous actors starting wearing it to high-profile award ceremonies such as the Academy Awards and talking about why it was important. The media also took notice, and within a short space of time the red ribbon symbol became universally recognized.

Circle of Hope Society

Circle of Hope Society are individuals whose lifetime donations to the San Antonio AIDS Foundation total $10,000 or more.

This Society recognizes those who are generous with their support over the years.  This exclusive group provides unrestricted financial support that is vital to providing the continuum of care and services for clients from twelve surrounding counties at the San Antonio AIDS Foundation and our prevention services that encompass a wide area around Bexar County.

We are grateful to these individuals who continue to invest in hope for the end of HIV.
