St. Mary’s Street, on Friday, April 17, 7-11 p.m., when the San Antonio AIDS Foundation presents “Carnaval: WEBB Party 2020” – an official Fiesta San Antonio® event.

Tickets go on sale at 7 p.m. on January 31. General admission tickets are $75 presale and $90 at the door. VIP tickets are $175 presale through March 20, then $200 from March 21 to the night of the event. Ticket sales are online only at SanAntonioAIDS.org.

This year’s entertainment will include non-stop high-energy dance music by star DJ Cobweb of the Bonham Exchange, live performances by award-winning Samba dance troupe MeliSamba from Austin, the RLE Showgirls, and exciting “streetmosphere” showcasing exotic Carnaval outfits and dancing. Guests are encouraged to dress in “Carnaval Fabulous” to join in the fun!
The party also features multiple full-service open bars for all guests, cuisine tastings by some of San Antonio’s top restaurants and chefs, patrons in colorful costumes, breathtaking decorations – and Fiesta’s most diverse, fun-loving crowd. In addition, the annual “Papa Bear Legacy Award” will be presented in honor of SAAF’s late founder, Robert “Papa Bear” Edwards.
The Bonham Exchange will host the annual after-party and provide a free shuttle service between the theater and the club. WEBB Party patrons get in free with their wristbands.

ABOUT SAAF’S WEBB PARTY
The WEBB Party started in the early 1990s when a group of friends decided to throw a spectacular party and make it a fundraiser for the San Antonio AIDS Foundation. Local legend has it that one of the organizers owned an inspirational calendar that included the Ethiopian proverb, “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.” The planners were so moved by the saying that they decided to call the party “Web.” But somehow, the word was misspelled on the first invitation – and never corrected. The rest, as they say, is history.
The WEBB Party became an official Fiesta® event in 2004. It is now the San Antonio AIDS Foundation’s most visible and important fundraising event of the year, attracting approximately 1,000 guests and raising $100,000 for the organization. It helps to fund such programs and services as free HIV testing, prevention education in public schools, outpatient clinical care, mental health counseling, transitional housing and a 365-day-per-year hot meals program. SAAF’s programs and services are offered throughout Bexar County and 11 surrounding counties and reach approximately 30,000 people a year.
